The Ithaca High School girls basketball team snapped a two-game losing skid Friday night on its home court with a 48-34 victory over Michigan Lutheran Seminary.

Ithaca (9-3) led by a slim 9-7 lead through one quarter, but pushed the advantage to double digits late in the second quarter at 23-13 on a runner by senior guard Kelsey Hesbrook.

After going into halftime ahead 23-15, the Yellowjackets took firm control in the third as junior center Kayla Belles scored the first four points of the quarter. Belles would eventually finish with a game-best 21 points, scoring 15 of them after halftime.

The Cardinals would trim it back to 30-22 by the end of the third quarter, but back-to-back baskets by Belles and freshman guard Mackelle Thompson pushed it back to a one-sided affair early in the fourth.

Thompson scored eight points in the win for Ithaca, while Sam Vermeesch put in six points and Hessbrook added five.
