Saturday and Sunday, December 15 and 16, 2018 the entire McCloskey clan gathered at our Cadillac condo to relax and enjoy each other’s company. Karen had made arrangements for us to have two 3BR condos in addition to our condo in 405. Karen, Mike, Diane, Shirley, Shawn, Corey, O’Malley, and Rowyn arrived Friday afternoon. All the rest arrived Saturday morning. We spent the first couple of hours after everyone had arrived in condo 403 just hanging out and eating a smorgasbord of great food and catching up on family news. Around 1:00 p.m. we all meandered over to the club house and began to cook the Saturday dinner and play games. After dinner it was a “do your own thing” time. Some of the grandkids went swimming, some of the adults lounged in the hot tub, some watched the Detroit Lions on the large screen tv above the fireplace in the owners lounge. And by the way, the Sunset Shores staff had the Owners Lounge decked out in full Christmas regalia, creating a very “Christmasy” atmosphere. The evening finished with a “everyone’s in” wild game of spoons won by Michael and ?. By 9:00 p.m. everyone had pitched-in to clean the lounge and restore it to its pre-McCloskey status. Then the party moved backed to condos 403 and 405 for more family stories and laughs.
Sunday morning began with a 10:30 a.m.family mass at St. Anne’s Church in Cadillac. After mass we returned to the condos and finished off most of the great food from the previous night’s dinner. By the time we finished lunch it was time to head to the Wexford Civic Center Ice Arena for two hours of open skating fun. This was the highlight of the weekend for O’Malley. She had been counting the days back home until she could go ice skating at the “Wex”. Sadly at the end of the skating session we hugged each other goodbye and with lumps in our throats and some hints of tears in our eyes, we headed for home. Except for Karen and Mike who returned home on Monday. We have so much fun when we are all together we are now looking forward to the family Christmas at Mike and Karen’s house Christmas Day. A special “thank you” to Shirley who had one of her “crafty” friends make “nose warmers” for all the McCloskey family women. These cute nose warmers provided us with a number of laughs and cute pictures.
