It's been two years since I last visited my mother, father, and sister's graves. In the intervening time, my conscience has bothered me, knowing that mother nature would be filling in the beautiful grass surrounding the tombstones with weeds and would end up covering them from view. It almost seemed disrespectful and I dreaded the very long drive by myself from Ithaca to Southfield. On Wednesday, August 26, 2026 Michael and Shawn were kind enough to take me to my mother and father's burial site in Holy Sepulchre Cementary in Southfield Michigan. That was Michael and Shawn's first visit with their grandparents. What an introduction.... a 2 hour drive to get to the cemetery and then a landscaping effort to restore it to Its normal beauty. Thank you, Shawn and Michael for your two corporal works of mercy. Standing at the grave site after the work was done with the two of you was a very emotional and moving moment for me. And I know it was also a very moving moment for your grandparents to experience the love of the grandchildren they have never met. Thank you so much for giving me that moment.
