General Rules
  • Baggage Fees apply for excess weight between 24kg-32kg (51lb-70lb) or additional checked bags over free allowance of 1 bag.
  • The weight of any one piece of baggage must not exceed 32kg (70lb).
  • Sports Equipment is carried as standard baggage and will be counted as part of the baggage allowance.
  • For Aer Lingus operated routes, 2 bags per-passenger can be booked online.
  • For non-Aer Lingus operated routes, 1 bag can be booked online. (Additional bags may be paid for locally at the airport).
  • For Aer Lingus journeys between North America and the UK or Continental Europe, the long-haul checked baggage allowance will apply for all flights within the itinerary, unless there is a stopover of more than 14 days in Ireland, then each flight within the itinerary will have the relevant shorthaul or longhaul baggage policy applied to that part of the journey.
  • Book up to 2 bags online up to 2 hours before departure here.
  • Pooling or sharing of baggage allowance is permitted when with a travel partner within the same booking and when checking in together.
  • Baggage fees are non-refundable.

  • Overall bag dimensions (length + width + height) must not exceed 158 cm (62″).
  • Baggage Fees apply for overweight and additional checked bags.
  • Infant baggage allowance is 10kg (22lb) in addition to one collapsible stroller.
Business / Business Flex Fares
  • Passengers are permitted three bags free of charge, weighing a combined total of 69kg (150lb).
  • The weight of any one piece of baggage must not exceed 32kg/70lb.
  • Overall bag dimensions (length + width + height) must not exceed 158cm (62″).
  • Baggage fees apply for excess weight or additional bags over the stated limit.

We have revised our checked baggage fees for second and subsequent bags for travel between Europe and North America. Please review all relevant baggage details before you travel. The new checked baggage policy will apply to all flights booked on or after 29 August 2013 for travel from that date forward. If you booked a flight before 29 August 2013, please contact us to pre-book your baggage at the fees in place at the time of your booking.

Important!
  • Please note that if connecting from our Aer Lingus service to our Aer Lingus Regional service that the 7KG cabin baggage allowance will apply for both parts of the journey.
  • Please ensure your cabin baggage is within the specified allowance. Bags outside of this allowance must be checked-in and the relevant bag fee will apply.
  • Flights departing the USA are subject to TSA security rules.
  • *Revised from 31 January 2014* EU security rules regarding liquids, gels and aerosols in cabin baggage apply.
General Rules for Cabin Baggage
  • Cabin baggage must meet size and weight limits which are strictly enforced at the airport.
  • Cabin baggage must fit inside the gauge units at the airport (including wheels and handles).
  • All passengers must be able to place their own cabin baggage into the overhead bin unaided.
  • Please stow smaller bags under the seat in front of you keeping overhead space free for larger bags.
  • Occasionally we have to check your cabin bag into the hold due to stowage space limitations or if your baggage is over the allowed dimensions and weight.
  • Passengers in Row 1 Economy or Business Class, or at an emergency exit, MUST store baggage in an overhead bin.
Use of Portable Electronic Devices (PEDs) on Aer Lingus flights
  • Recent changes to EASA regulations now permit that Portable Electronic Devices (e.g. mobile phones, tablet devices, e-readers, MP3 players) no longer have to be switched to ‘OFF’ during take-off and landing.
  • It is now acceptable to use these devices during all phases of flight (except during refuelling and low visibility landings) once they have been switched to ‘Flight / Airplane Mode’.
  • Laptops and larger PEDs (greater than 1kg in weight or which cannot be held in one hand) shall be stowed during taxi, take-off and landing (or at any other time if requested by the flight crew).
  • Devices must not obstruct passenger exit from a seat row in the event of an emergency.
  • Note: Aer Lingus A330 aircraft are Wi-Fi and GSM enabled (passengers must follow on-board procedures for use).
